Hi, need to replace our rechargeable lantern as the old one packed up.  Have seen these, http://www.jacksonscamping.com/?pc=/product/3244/ wondered if anyone had tried them?  Or does anyone have any recommendations.

Cheers

Jo

I'm looking for something similar too, we've just been using a torch until this year but we have a 13month old baby now so could do with a decent lantern. Can't seem to find any actual customer reviews about yet.

Here is some more info on it from http://www.campingworld.co.uk/Models.aspx?ModelID=555

The Gelert 13 watt Double U-Tube Rechargeable Lantern is ideal for camping, garden parties, general outdoor activities and even home emergencies. It is a compact, lightweight lantern that features a durable carry handle and a fold out self supporting stand, both useful for around the campsite. The Gelert 13 watt rechargeable lamp runs on a 6v battery that can be charged from home or in the car (both adaptors supplied) and a 13 watt energy saving fluorescent double U tube bulb. The Gelert 13 watt double U tube lantern will take 12 hours to charge and will stay luminous for 3-4 hours. The rechargeable lamp is completely water resistant so you wont have to worry where it is situated, making it ideal for outdoor use.

I have a Ring Cyba-lite which I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. It has 15 LED lights which provide all round illumination, with an optional 9 LED energy saving mode, and the option to charge by hand, thus saving the universe. A three hour charge from your car cigarette lighter socket will give up to 7 hours of light...apparently; In all the times we've used ours it has never needed to be wound by hand as plugging it into the car each time we go out for a drive sees to that. Having said that I sometimes wind it by hand just for the sake of keeping warm in the icy chill of a British summer. It folds up small too!

Tesco have them in for about £18  -  we bought one and it's really good.  The light is plenty bright enough to read by.

ah that outwell one seems a lot better it doesn't look as good but lasts approx 8hrs instead of 3-4

http://www.hikebikeandride.com/p-outwell_jupiter_lantern-2297.aspx

• Supply Voltage 240v Cable Pack Supplied
• Flurescent I Tubes
• 240v/12volt Adaptor
• 2M 12v Car Plug Charger
• Operating Time App 8 Hours

What would the light comparison be like between the Flurescent I Tubes and 13 watt Double U-Tube ? Is there much in it?

Thanks,

worto.
