Can anyone offer any advice in respect of sourcing a replacement pole for my Vango Omega 350.
I managed to snap one a couple of weekends ago - no problem I thought, email Vango and they'll replace it. Their customer service team tell me that they don't replace poles now and they are not covered by the lifetime guarantee
They did tell me I need a 8.5mm pole but does anyone know where I can just buy an entire replacement pole? All anyone seems to want to sell me is replacement sections for me to replace myself which seems like a lot of faff.
Sorry to hear that Vango don't replace anymore...They changed all ours (Diablo 900) last year following a camping trip in the May gales. If it's costing them too much then they should make a more reliable product...Definite thumbs down for Vango if this is now their stance....Take note Vango, alot of campers will read this!
------------- A recent survey found that 93% of satstics were utter bo11ox!
In another survey, 10% of the men questioned preferred women with thin thighs, 15% preferred thick thighs, the rest preferred something in between!
Gawdsakes, tent poles are like car tyres..they wear out and get damaged and need replacing. There's not a single manufacturer that guarantees poles for the lifetime of their tent, I don't think, not fibreglass ones anyway. Most poles break because of either careless handling or while using tents in weather conditions that they're not designed for.
Replacement poles are usually supplied as sections because it's a five minute job to replace a section and it's a ridiculous waste of money to throw a 95% okay pole out for the sake of one piece. Anyway, an 8.5mm pole could be any length...how long is a piece of string? And with poles costing about £1+ per section.....
I've had replacement poles from Vango in the past as a goodwill geasture, once because I couldn't source a supplier of an awkwardly sized piece easily. Great customer service considering, as I said, poles are regarded as items with their own T&Cs under the guarantee. If they've now decided that it's not cost effective for them to hand out endless free replacements to anyone that's split a pole in any way, then that just brings them into line with other tent manufacturers.
Hi, we have recently brought the "wonderful" Icarus 500 and have had major problems with the poles "cracking" (before anyone says it Yes we do know what we are doing and have had 3 vango tents previously and only ever had one pole break in the wind) We have had 2 sections snap in half now - as said before Vango don't want to know - has anyone else had any problems ??
Does anyone know a good supplier of decent quality replacements?
My first time out with my new vango kura 600 and on setting up one of the poles started to crack (was waiting for it to shatter) I would expect it after a few season but not first outing. Is this normal.
