Provided the gas is properly regulated does it make a difference whether I use propane or butane for my barbecue.

Reason for question is I want to run my barbie from the external gas outlet on the side of my van but the barbie was originally supplied with Butane and the van is propane??

butane or propane, it doesn't matter which as long as, as you say, it's properly regulated
