Hi all

Can anyone point me in the right direction for cheap calor gas? Need it for the stove for this weekend.

If you need a new bottle, try your local refuse/recycling tip, or scrap yard.

 I'm not sure but think most refills are about the same price.

never had much difference wherever I've got a refill, onsite or at petrol staions etc.

Will try the tip as first port of call, not sure how they will be at giving stuff away but I can only try!

Look out for the calor gas signs when driving around your local area - you may be suprised at how many places stock it.

I live in a small town, but the bicycle shop sells the gas. And best of all it doesn't charge a deposit on the bottle. I wanted a calor gas bottle for a camping stove but at the time pf purchasing the stove, the camping shop was out of stock of the bottles (would have been £21 for the gas and another £20 deposit on the bottle).

Thats when I found out my local bike shop stocked the gas.... cost me £17 and NO deposit

Use them all the time now, and was miles cheaper for the big bottle of Patio gas (13kg) we use for the gas bbq at home.

I'm sure you'll find somewhere local to you!

Update: Just rang Morrisons and it is £30 deposit plus price of gas. Apparantly most Morrisons with petrol stations do it!

I also use Morrisons at Harwood for refills now. Cheaper than the local camping shop.

You could also try Bolton Bottled Gas, behind the big B&Q. He is very competitive for LPG for my car, so I guess he will do cheap bottled gas too.

I got two 4.5kg blue butane empty bottles from the Tip at Swinton. The main ones in Bury wouldn't entertain letting me have one, but at Swinton they couldn't help enough and even said I could call again if I needed another.

paul christie didn't know Bolton Bottled gas was behind the B & Q warehouse at the bottom of Blackburn Road, I know there is a scrap yard and the lovely Royal Mail parcel collection depot where I have stood for many an hour waiting for them to find parcels. I really should pay more attention

Yes, you turn near the tool hire place just before the lights on the way to Bolton Aquatics Store and go over the cross-road and it's on the right.

He does the camping Gaz small bottle (amongst others), which is handy for a stove and not too bulky.

I'd use him for gas myself, but they don't fill Calor bottles there.
