We have just bought ehu for when we go away this summer. Can you use a normal portable tv on the ehu or does it have to be a camping one. We have never used ehu before and dont want to be tripping the main switch.
thanks
saff
If you are asking whether or not a TV that you bring from home can be used in a van, the short answer is yes. It will use less than a quarter of the available electricity coming from the mains.
BUT.
You will also need to be able to tune it in to the LOCAL station as this will probably be different to the aerial mast you receive your pictures from at home.use at hometn
We bought a small (not LCD!) portable dvd/tv from Asda for around £60 and it worked fine on EHU. On the back of the tv there is usually a small sticker which will tell you how many amps it draws so you can work out how much you are using (there are some threads on here to help you work it out - I can never remember!!). We bought it with the idea of putting it on for our 3 young ones to watch a dvd if it was raining - they could sit in the cabin of the TT while we got wet putting up the awning up! We don't plan to use it for local tv or anything, just dvds for those stressful moments when we need a bit of peace!! Hope this helps!
Hi saffie, yes you can,we have been doing that for a while now,and the next time we are going to try a small digibox as well to see if that works. The small tele we use has to be normally tuned in but last time it worked straight away.Just remember to take tele instructions with you.
HI. I used a 14" portable and an ariel for £5 from asda last weekend. It worked a treat. The girls wanted to see Britains got Talent final so TV came with us for the first time ever.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
