Have been looking at the roof sacks myself but wondering, what happens when you get to site and take everything out, do you have to take it off, what happens if you only half fill it, unlikely I know but just asking

Hi Ken
There are internal straps which will tighten any load inside the roofbag, big or small so stop it shuffling around. If the bag is only half full, there are also outer straps that go around the bag which you can tighten to fit the load in there. I wouldn't leave it on the roof and it's not going to be that secure (you can padlock the zips together I s'pose) but I just take my bag off the roofbars when I camp. I can then bung it in the boot, either rolled up still with the support bars in or broken down and stuffed in the nylon bag it come with. It's attached with 4 U clamps to the roofbars so takes about 5 mins to take off.
Hope this helps .

"I distrust camels, and anyone else who can go a week without a drink."
have just purchased a Farad 450 from roofbox.co.uk, got the roof bars fitted at Halfords last week, got the halfords brand which were a tad pricey but seem to do the job ok, cant fault roofbox on service or follow up, excellent service, have yet to fit the box to the car so the air may turn a distinct shade of blue if they dont plat ball, but it seems easy enough.....famous last words??
We got the full kit -roof box ,thule roof bars ,thule feet and fittings kit from Halfords and just beat them down on the price ,ended up being cheaper than anywhere and the benefit of knowing it all went together ok ;)
Make sure you check your cars maximan roof weight limit !! That limit is to include the actual weight of the roofbox and bars too ,so weigh them ,knock them off the total and thats the weight you can fill your roof box wiht .
you will be a lil shocked how little weight you are left with but stick to only lightweight items ,nothing heavy ,it soon mounts up ! We weighed everything hte first time we used ours adn were shocked it was only half way full and already over limit..

I took delivery of my KAMEI Corvara 390K yesterday in under 12 hours of ordering. Top service. The box is HUGE! can't wait to fit the thing now!
Hi Arkaig,
I'm just wondering how you are getting on with your Corvara - I have narrowed down my choice to a Thule Altantis 780 or the 390 Corvara.
The roofbox site give the idea that it is 'the best' but not many stockists so its hard to gauge for myself.
Yes, delighted with my corvara. Slips onto the roof bars with the T fixings no bother at all, I leave my roof bars on and jsut remove the box when I'm down. Putting the box on is so simple and a one man job. Plenty room inside it too. V. Happy. What swung it for me was the 90Kg max payload which is higher than most. I had to get the bars to suit that weight though. Opens both side too which is a big benefit for a short **** like me!! :-)
When researching it I found it scarce online too. Lovely box though.
On the bars, I have the Atera's, the aero fellas. If you don't put the rubber strips in when not using the box the wind drag is phenominal. The rubbers are a must.
We are thinking of getting a roofbox but are unsure what equipment is needed i.e. roofbars, etc. Also can anyone recommend one, we have looked at halford's website and motorworld's website, but the roofbars bit is confusing and they come to to the same price as the roofbox almost. Any advice would be great, thank you
It is a big hit on the pocket when you need bars and the box together.
The thing to remember is the bars are the basis for anything you want to carry on your car and are specific to your car.
Thule rapid fit bars for example for a typical hathback come in three components eg bars(different lengths) footpack and fitting kit (again car specific.
The beauty of this system is that if you change your car you can buy the relevent component to suit your new car.(or components) There are many vairables eg estates with roofrails, three doors cars and cars with fixpoints hence the confustion. They are also very easy to fit and remove. Paddy Hopkirk and Halfords do similar systems cheaper but tend to just fit the more popular cars and need more assembly but still do the same job.
Just go in Halfords and ask what fits then shop around for the best deal, they pricematch and will fit if you need it.As for the box as has been said look at size that suits your need. Good luck.
