I gotta Garmin Nuvi, chief, and it's great fun! The American woman's voice is as cute as a button! Also, I sometimes set it to Bicycle/Shortest Route and it takes me (in the car) down all sorts of side-streets and roads I've never explored before. I use the TomTom 520 Satnav and find it excellent, as members have said in the above replies it can be set to take the quickest route (main roads) right down to if you are walking to your destination, also with points of interest set (poi) you can set it tell you pretty much everything you need to know on your journey like garages, parking, speed cameras, doctors, vets in fact you can easily download all manor of poi's and even create you own!
I also use the bluetooth facility on this model to connect to my mobile so I have hands free while driving, another good point is that it has mapshare which means details of roads/ cameras etc get downloaded everytime you plug the unit into the computer, I use mine quite happily while towing the van, BUT with all satnavs you still need a certain element of common sense I mean just because the satnav tells you turn left over a cliff would you follow it? keep going and it will automatically re-route you anyway, that said keep a good old map with you as we all know technology is a wonderful thing..............when it's working !

Yep got back in one piece, weather turned towards the end of the week, still strong winds and on friday it pretty much rained all day! but a very enjoyable two weeks, shame we never timed it beter with your stay, rumour has it we maybe up for the three weeks next year!
I have Tom Tom on phone and Navman ICN530, depends on where I'm going, the Tom Tom is handy for walking in strange towns as it has 'walk' option and gps receiver is small enough to put in pocket, the Navman has been great in the car.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
