Sorry to ask, but I've looked through a lot of posts and I'm still confused.

I've just bought an outwell premium, which I don't think will be thick enough to cope with my fat hips (it will do for my hubby or one of the kids). I love the comfort of my airbed but I get very cold, and last time I went camping had a very warm mummy bag, a duvet underneath, then the airbed, then a foam mat. I feel a bit like the princess and the pea, but without being paid by the taxpayer!

Which of the self-inflating bags is the warmest? (And can cope with a big bum)

Get the Robens! We've already got the fat airics, which are great (comfy even when sleeping on my side), but then I saw the Rubens which at 10cm is even thicker. The price put me off as it was dearer than the airics but now they have gone up in price twice this year to £45. The robens is still sitting at £40. We're in the process of getting one for my teenage daughter...(wonder if I can swap with her!).

The self-inflating mats don't really have a problem with being cold to sleep on like the air beds do. I hated our last airbed I was ALWAYS sooo cold.

Happy hunting.

Thanks so much for the reply - I tried a robens on the floor of the shop ( I think i could hear muffled laughter at the time) and I nearly went for it but the shop assistant gave me some gobbldegook about thermarest having 'waves of foam' which might be warmer. (or, presumably, might not). It didn't really help me make a decision!

Will go back tomorrow and get one I think!

We bought 2 Robens last year after years of cold air beds (tried everything but still cold) Great mats, never been warmer and would never go back to an airbed again. Also they are so easy - just open the valves and put in your sleeping pod. I join mine together with a fleecy mattress cover so they dont move apart, chuck a double square sleeping bag on top. Job done!!
