     ok not to sound thick but if i dont have electrick hook up how do i keep my cool box cool and stop my food going off. Yes i am new to camping and slowly getting everything i need .Got the gas cooker and picked up a great portable bbq now just need to keep the food fresh to cook .  Please help

It depends if your going for a weekend or longer, My friend freezes a large milk carton and uses that as a giant ice block for weekend camping trips ( you can use the milk bit by bit as it thaws). Many sites have a freezer or ice block exchange. Or just buy fresh stuff everyday and keep the milk in a bucket of cold water overnight.

ahh thanks we are going for a week so i will just keep bying ice from the supermarket every other  day to keep it cool hadnt thought of that. thanks  thats another thing off my list.

Most camp sites will freeze ice packs overnight.  They don't take up as much room as a litre of water & will still be frozen the day after.  Sounds silly, but don't open the box too often, & make sure the stuff you put in is refrigerated first.

You can freeze other things too. I usually freeze OJ and bacon (although portion this out first as it will make it easier), sausages etc and sometimes bread rolls too (just to keep them fresher, and only if I have space).

Make sure your food is cold and your ice box too before loading up, and as said earlier, try not to open it too much. I also find if I keep the box outside in the shade it stays cooler for longer.
