Has anyone had problems with aerobeds losing air? I bought the Aerobed active in January but due to work commitments have not been able to go camping yet this year. The thing is I pumped it up as a guest bed the other night and by morning it felt very soft. Tonight I pumped it up again and it was noticeably soft after only 2hrs!
As you know these are not cheap pieces of kit and I'm really worried that I've wasted good money on another rubbish airbed. Has anyone else had similar problems or do you think I've just got a duff one?
Not had experience of that make Paula although they get pretty good write-ups. I had a dud Coleman that leaked from new but the replacement is still going strong.
Like a lot of things, there is a reliability curve that looks like a 'bath tub' - things tend to be unreliable when they're new due to manufacturing defects etc., then they go for a few years with no trouble, then they start to fail again as we climb the other side of the bath tub curve. It's why TV and Hi-Fi shops are happy to sell you that 5 year extended warranty: they know that most faults will occur during the first few months and be covered by the manufacturer's warranty and then they're safe until their extended warranty's run out.
I do wobble on... sorry! I think you should get a new one under warranty... and hope lightening doesn't strike twice.
------------- Please do not adjust your mind... there is a fault in reality
I hope you're right but I'm not feeling very hopeful at the moment. I've just looked at some reviews on Epinions.com and am more than a little worried. I've e-mailed Aerobed and I'll see what they come back with. In total I paid £78.90 for my bed and fleece cover and it's a lot of money to lose.
Hi, I had the same thing happen to me with the aerobed active, luckily i used it shortly after i purchased it and got in contact with aerobed who told me to cut out the valve on the bed and send it back, and they would offer a replacement bed or a refund i took the refund, and will just buy cheap airbeds and replace as needed aerobed are just an expensive waste of money.
Did you realise though Sue that the 2yr guarantee is only on the pump amd valve? The mattress is only guaranteed for 1yr. Why is this sort of thing always hidden in the small print?
We used the green Coleman ones before we got the Aero beds. The only reason we got the Aero beds was a) the size(we had a coleman single 80cm wide, which was a little to narrow) and aColeman double 135cm( which was too wide)They have never let us down in the 3 years we have had them.b) we like the re chargeable pump that comes with the Aero beds.If you don't want a replacement Aero bed I can 100% recommend the Coleman.
Sue.
