Just popped out to Tescos and they have made some further reductions on their camping stuff

2 man dome tent £3.99 - fire retardent, taped seams, single layer waterproof flysheet, fibre glass poles, SIG, Fly net

3 man dome tent £7.50 - as above - some friends of mine bought this tent for the kids to play in, in the garden. It has been up for nearly 2 weeks now and has withstood  daily abuse from 2 kids and a dog and all the weather has had to throw at it with no leaks or problems.

Double sleeping bag £10.00

Single sleeping bag £3.50 - weight 0.9kg, extreme rating -10.6 degrees c, comfort rating +3.8 degrees c to 8.3 degrees c

thought this might help somebody just starting out for fair weather camping to see if they like it before forking out a lot of money.

Asda Living in Lincoln have a 2 bedroom dome tent, 2 chairs, 2 sleeping bags for 40 quid. the Tent looks pretty good quality (they have one erected in store) or 2 X 2 man tents for 15 quid (also erected in store)

Be careful with the Tesco's stuff - they're different prices in different shops!  I bought a picnic rug for £5.25 - popped in to the one round the corner just an hour later and they were £3.50...  The sleeping bags were also full price at the first one and half price at the second one.  You think they'd be the same at all stores!

we had a 2 berth one 3 years ago for the kids to play in on site.  it lasted a six week camp with 6 kids messing about in it as a play tent and occasionally as an extra  awning bedroom one year, then as a garden play tent the following year. we took it for the kids again this year, but one of the corners that the pole slots into snapped off. I cut it up and used it to make an extended   mudflap on one of my big tents . not bad for a fiver.
