Has anyone successfully attached a non-Erde jockey wheel to their Erde trailer?

We have an Erde 122 trailer and I recently bought this universal jockey wheel for it from Towsure: http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/redirect.asp?redir=http://www.towsure.com/product/223-34mm_Jockey_Wheel/Clamp_1_Ton

I then realised that we needed another bit maybe something like this: https://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/redirect.asp?redir=http://www.towsure.com/product/15204-Jockey_Wheel_Clamp-On_Fitting_Kit

...but on telephoning Towsure, they advised that this won't work. Has anyone else managed to buy the extra bit for attaching the jockey wheel to the drawbar? Halfords only seem to sell the whole thing (and for £40 odd). Having already spent £14 on the jockey wheel, I don't want to spend too much more.

If anyone can help or advise then thanks in advance!

Nicola

Hi,

The only thing you must bear in mind is that if you drill the drawbar this may weaken the strength, and indeed lower the capacity the trailer is capable of carrying.

If you only use for light loads you should not really have any problems, better to air on the side of caution!

Kind regards,

Towsure.
