OH just uses claw hammer - I'm not so strong, so have a lump of wood as well to use as a lever with said claw hammer!!

my hubby made one at work. a piece of metal hooked at one end with an handle on the other, it fits under the pegs brilliantly, even i can use it.

Everytime I see this thread for a second I think it reads Leg Puller.
Anyway to answer the question if they are in too tight we turn a really hefty peg at right angles to the peg and pull. Invariably works.
