I have just purchased an outwell Idaho L and am considering buying the footprint ground sheet. Has anyone purchased one, my only worry is that rain may get trapped between the footprint and the actual tent or are they worth the money?
Just make sure that the footprint is not protruding from under the tent and you will be fine - no water should get between.
We use a plastic tarpaulin from B&Q that is exactly the right size for our Outwell Sunvalley 8 and it is great. The bottom of the sig stays clean and dry and can be packed away without needing cleaning.
Your Idaho footprint won't be as cheap as a B&Q tarp but I am sure it is worth it.
We have just ordered a footprint for our Colorado. £20.00 We're camping on shingle for the first time in a couple of weeks so needed something for under the tent. i looked at tarp but it was coming in at just a few pounds cheaper that the ground sheet. It will also be useful for that extra insulation during the winter months.
footprints are a good idea, saves getting the bottom of the tent mucky and so far I've had no probs with trapped water. You just have to make sure the tent cover the footprint as the pp said.
