Went into Poundstretcher (Instore) today and they are selling Motorola F3 mobile phones with a virgin Pay as you go SIM card. The phones are 'unlocked' so will take any SIM (except '3' network ones).
Whilst not a brilliant phone I recon it's ideal for taking camping/caravanning or as an emergency phone to keep in the car in case of breakdown.
At the price it wouldn't matter if it got lost, stolen or dropped in a puddle!

Do you know whether they have a time limitation on them if you don't use the credit? I know some suppliers have around 6 months limit on not using them. Don't wanna get one then find that it won't work when i really need it!
They sound like a great idea. Just use your common sense, keep them charged up, even if they are mainly switched off, just check the battery every so often. As for keeping them active - it doesn't take much to use them once every so many months (I think that it's six with Virgin) just to keep them active.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
