What do people use for mains lighting under canvas ? I've seen the two outwell lights; merope and tauri. Are these good or do people just tend to buy a cheap'n'cheerful inspection light and use that ?
Ikea "NOT" uplighter with reading lamp £9.99 - 20 watt fluorescent in main light, 7 watt fluorescent reading light. It packs away in the small box it came in, is very stable, and you can attach all sorts of things to the pole - including the EHU.
The reading light is at the right height to aim into the bedroom.
Ikea clipons in bedroom(s) - clipped on the Ikea clothes rails with 7 watt fluorescents.
Ikea compact fluorescents have an outer globe - making them that much less fragile.
8 watt linear fluorescent inspection light on the off-chance the weather enabled outside cooking in the evening ...
Personally I like the principle of not attaching things to the fly.
.
We have one of the clip on ones and a 2 tube flourescent rechargeable one too - one or two tubes battery or plugged in with a stand or handle to hang it from.
one inspection lamp with a 60watt compact in in the awning and 2 12v flouro's in the bedrooms.
the inspection lamps flex was renewed with 5 mtrs of flex plus a rocker switch which sits just outside the bedroom door
we had to find a spiral compact the ordinary ones were to long
Something that has worked well for us is to use clear(white) light christmas fairy lights run arround the roof of our trailer tent. You can use normal bulbs or newer L.E.D types as they are transformed down to low voltage so should be safe and gives a great cosy light effect in the tent.

Yep - I wouldn't be without my mood lighting - ropelight and fibre optic. I didn't have time to get a compact black light. No room in car for any of my disco lights.
we use 2 bulk haed lights £1.50 each and ran cable to the right lenth of where we want them and just used hooks to hang...
we also have blue outside lights along the top of the tt
