We have just ordered a Cadac Carri Chef Deluxe from Towsure . Looking at the instructions via the Cadac website regarding gas connection, there doesn't seem to be any mention of securing the hose onto the valve tailpeace with a jubilee clip - just push it on until its properly seated. Surely a jubilee clip is needed to ensure a tight secure fit ?
I had 2 interesting moments while using my Cadac this summer.
The first one involved me forgetting to take my wee spirit level off the Cadac before putting my skottle on....it took me a few moments to suss what the charred mess was as I took the Cadac apart.
During the day I store my Cadac & gas under the beds of my camper & bring it out whenever it's needed. I don't use jubilee clips & didn't notice that the connection to the Cadac had become slack through all the movement. The resulting flare produced quite an adrenaline rush.
I still don't use jubilee clips, but I check the connections before each use.
We didn't check our connections this Summer and the resultant fire caused more than a blooming adrenaline rush, I can tell you. There has to be a safer way to do it then just pushing it on and "giving it a little shove" every time you use it.
That's why I would have expected there to be requirement in the instructions for use of jubilee clips to ensure the hose is securely connected - even if its on low pressure.
The Cadac arrived only two days after ordering it from Towsure - and just paid normal delivery charge : excellent service.
Fitted the jubilee clips ok - can't see any reason not too. The tailpeace unscrews from the valve easily, so no need to keep the hose connected when not in use. It fits nicely into the front pocket of the main bag
Tried it out at home at the weekend - had to cook in the garage 'cos the weather was 'inclement' - thats polite for xxxxxxx down ! What an excellent piece of kit - cooks brilliantly. Used the ribbed grill - nothing burned, all cooked through well (no more iffy sausages..).
And putting all the pieces back in the bags was a doddle. Read the manual first, but pretty logical really - the smaller pieces fit inside the larger, like a Russian doll.
OH thinking about roasting pan / paella pan already - think I'm caught doing the cooking...
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
