can someone advise me what types of pegs I should have in my kit bag. Just bought an Idaho L family tent and going to a few different sites next year. Not sure about all the different names of pegs these days so need some help to make sure i can keep secure whatever the ground type ie sand base, rock/gravel. Thanks

As you say, different pegs for different ground conditions.

However, most pegs types will get you by in most circumstances with a little care.

So my suggestion to you is this. If you are carrying them, just go for the lightest and hope for the best. If you do not have to carry them, go for rock pegs as these will do in all but the sandyest/loosest conditions.

We also bought some of the long plastic ones for wet ground and they were great during our rainy, windy summer camping trip, they stayed really secure in the ground.

Have used all the types of peg, now only use rock pegs as they are good for virtually all sitautions

rock pegs only for us for awning. we use big storm strap pegs for the main storm staps
