WE have a small 2berth, and one of the cross-pole sunncamp porches, but would like to change to a sunncamp Ultima 2.6. If the righthand edge is near to the doorframe, the lefthand edge will need to go out about four or five inches to clear the window to allow opening at night, otherwise my wife won't have it! Can anyone tell me if it is possible to shape the left hand edge to make that extra width? Does it take an aluminium bead or what? Any advice would be very appreciated.

Hi. Weve got both of the awnings you mention, and use them on our elddis gulfstream 2 berth. neither of them fit very well due to the fact that the awning rail is 4/6 inches lower than it needs to be.The result is a gap on either side, big enough to walk through. We have tried all ways and cant get a close fit. So in answer to your question, no you cant do much to shape the edge it wont take a bead, I think the only answer is to get a van with a higher rail which is a shame because the 2.6 is a nice awning with plenty of room and is easy to put up while the wife sorts the van and gets the kettle on.

Thanks for your trouble in answering. The cross-pole awning fits ok after a lot of faffing with it. It was a very early one, I had to cut three inches off the pole lengths, and burn holes in the skirt to get the pegs outside like proper british ones. I don't mind sewing an edge rope off a piece of skirting along the awning edge and then sliding a length of alu onto that as a stiffener/shaper. It sounds as if the height of van will be critical, am off to Ambersliegh Fields on Wed and hope to see one there that I can measure up for height. Tnanks again. Mart7
