I was given a petrol generator as we have our caravan on a farm with no hookup ......its an old gennie and i cannot seam to get it to run on 230volts..........if i try to pull the cord to start it with the switch pointing to 230 volts it wont start no matter how many times i put....but if i switch it to 110 volts it starts first pull, the volt meter dances happily and the power light comes on..............if i then switch it to 230volts the engine still runs but the volt meter goes to 0 and the power light goes off ???????????
there are no loose connections and the fuse os ok as i checked that.................im baffled!!!!!
some old gennies have reset buttons if one pops out it wont start on the volts you select if that one has tripped but will run on both when started but wont generate on the one that has tripped, the trips are useualy under the outlet box it could also be a bad connection inside the switch over box
------------- Think this year is to follow old meet friends for 2014.
If you cant do someone a good turn, don`t do them a bad one,its nice to be nice you know, and little things mean much more later in life.
