The awning that we have is one size too small and we were wondering how difficult it would be to put new roof panels in ourselves and if anyone has ever done this ?

Hi, They way I've seen it done is to remove the mud skirts and then put in extensions there, then put the skirts back on, if you have a good sewing machine theres no reason why not,------------- Doing as little as possible for as much as possible...

I have read that the way they do it in the canvas repairers is to increase the size of the triangles that are either side of the roof

That's a brilliant list Michael, thankyou.
The problem is that our caravan is a 1979 Kingfisher and we can't easily get a new one so want to use the awning from our old van and it's value doesn't really warrant the expense of a professional repair. My mother however is a dab hand with a sewing machine so we are thinking about having a go at it ourselves

Have had it done by Trio pair in the past, They do put a triangle between the roof and side, you aso need to replace the awning cord that goes into the channel. ------------- Juliet & Paul

Greetings,
My awning is away at the mo. at East Yorkshire Awning repairs in Hull.
They are charging £60 to reduce plus £15 delivery (one way)
They charge £75 to increase the awning.
I've used them before and they were very good.
------------- How come when some people visit the fountain of knowledge, they only gargle!!!

Hi we got our NR awning extended at East Yorkshire awning repairs, it only was extended one size, you only send the main body as the panels are put in the roof 2 triangles 1 each side. The extension is at back of the awning as ours a 17 foot to an 18 foot so its still 17 foot wide at the front and 18 at the back so it does not look straight when you put it up, but better than paying for a new awning. We also used Parcels to go, at only £6.50 each way. We arranged collection and delivery both ways ourselves, worked out cheaper.

we've used kingswood canvas in Bristol several time & they're brilliant. They've made an awning larger & smaler for us, made us an annex & replaced zips. Always very high standards of workmanshp & we've never had cause to complain.
I tried posting a link containing the UKCs logo to keep everyone happy but I goofed it. google Kingswood canvas & you'll find them. You won't regret going to them.
