I have just purchased a trailer for this seasons camping but wondered what other campers do for securing their trailer at the site. I was going to fit a hitch lock and was considering winding in a ground spike and chaining the trailer to that ?..... either that or remove the wheels and leave them in the car ?...too extreme ?
I had a trailer for 3 or 4 years and never did anything to secure it. I am always a bit choosy about the campsites but but never lost anything. Valuables should be locked in the car etc. etc. common sense really.
As we always use EHU I always chain it to the post. You can buy spikes for the purpose though that screw into the ground and you then padlock the trailer to that.
------------- If you have a problem stressing you, sort it. If you can't, there's no point worrying about it coz it won't make a blind bit of difference!!!! Jules
I used a trailer for a number of years and never had a problem> I did by a wheel clamp for it but after a while the lack of space meant that the clamp stayed at home. In th latter years we took no physical security measures at all, instead we made sure the trailer was well hidden from view and always in as awkward a position as possible. I get the feeling if someone wants your trailer they will load it on the back of a wagon, they wont tow it away.
