Can anyone recommend a battery light that is suitable to read with - don't want to strain my eyes.

have you tried  using a head torch ,it works well for us,no getting out of bed to switch off the light.

Tesco's had some groovey book torch lights in their DIY promotion. We bought several last time they had them, for a couple of quid each

Head tprch every time - bought one last year from Tchibo for around £5 for tiddler and keep pinching it from her its soo good!

I use a clip-on light powered from a watch battery that I bought from Waterstones. Had it 3 years and although the battery has been changed 4 times, it hasn't let me down once. Great on the eyes, targeted light, doesn't wind your sleeping partner up either.

we got a couple of wind up torches for that,but noticed that they really lose light power after a few minutes.I am planning on buying a head torch as soon as i can.

The head torches they have in Wilkinsons work pretty well and only cost £3, I tried them out on my first camping trip and had no problems.

I often use a headtorch for reading in the tent - it's great till hubby speaks to me, and I look up at him.........ooops, bright light straight in his eyes

I use a head torch for reading whilst sitting out under the stars on Summer evenings.
