I got one of these over the weekend as I have an old 14" lcd sitting doing nothing. I thought it would be a better option to take with us camping than the laptop. At least if it breaks its not as much to lose as a laptop.
Its an Analogue Tuner pack that screws onto the mounts at the back of the monitor and makes it a telly. Its even got Composite sockets for DVD/Freeview/Consoles etc. Thought I'd share it, as its so cheap.
It looks exactly like what is screwed onto the back of a monitor we have that came as a monitor/tv. I always thought it looked like an addon put on by the manufacturers.
ooh ooh ooh, me being a technophobe/thick does this mean I can use my lcd computer monitor when I go camping then?

Are these analogue tuners?
If so, that gives them a short lifespan doesn't it?
Why would it give them a short life span. It has the inputs to plug in a freeview box or sky digibox or even a games console. Even investing in a cheap digibox Still makes it excellent value for money.

VESA wallmount holes it states. So your old LCD will need these on the back for the fitting. Also states its analogue which is no good as the Digital Swtich over has started with the odd part of the UK allready all on Digital so to get it to work soon you would need your LCD, TV Tunner as above and then a Freeview Digital Box and an aerial that can take Freeview Digital Pics.
Also like these old pocket TV's that people use. these are all analogue.

Hasnt this all been said in the posts above?
The whole point I posted this was to alert folks of a bargain, because as ive pointed out even if you buy this and a freeview box it would still be a LOT cheaper than buying a new freeview lcd - and you'd need an antenna that could pick up digital for the expensive one too, so thats not even an argument, however in digital only areas the signal is a lot stronger, so you wouldnt need an expensive one. For something that you can plug a dvd player into or a games console and use in most of the UK to pick up telly for the next couple of years, then its a bargain. See what I mean?
FYI
Granada,Border,Wales and the West country are currently the only non analogue areas in the UK.
2010
Scotland North - Channel Islands
2011
Scotland Central and the "west" area of south England
Yorkshire/Central and Anglia
2012
Meridian, London, Tyne Tees and UTV (Northern Ireland)
So I'd say its worth a few quid of anyones money judging by the switchover dates.

Got this little beauty this morning, so far its working out really well. Plugged the Kids Wii into it and perfect picture and it auto tuned the 5 analogue channels too. Sky digibox working as well and its got a really great picture. Well worth the money.
I wasnt actually arguing about it Chrisb - just pointing out that although what you are saying is correct, it is still a bargain. When you look at the dates that the changeover is happening, its worth just under 6 quid for a year or too of Analogue telly with the added bonus that you can play your consoles etc through it.
