could someone be so kind as to tell me what regulator i need for my gas bottle

The right one for the bottle.

(i.e a calor one for a calor bottle a Camping Gaz one for a Camping Gaz bottle, etc.)

Remember that if you've got a Calor Gas 4.5kg bottle you'll need a Calor Gas 4.5kg bottle regulator rather than a normal Calor Gas regulator ...

come in different colours red = propane, blue = butane small small propane = push on anything bigger than 4.5 screw in thats calor of course other makes of connection vary

Campingaz & Calor are different. Calor has different ones for different sizes. Propane & Butane are different.

What does your bottle say on it, sbeer?

Please tell us the make of gas cylinder. Sorry to vent my frustration but if new posters gave as much information as possible they would likely get a much more informative answer from our collective knowledge.
