Hi there - a simple one for the experienced caravanners out there I hope
Just changed cars and got twin electrics - had single elactrics for running lights only on the last car. Not sure what to switch my standard dometec fridge too though, to get it running en route.
The options are OFF, MAINS, BATTERY, GAS... always had it switched to MAINS and started it when we've hooked up on site. Don't want to use gas but would I be right in assuming that if I switch it to battery and switch the main battery isolator on in the van, it will cool as I go? I also assume that with twin electrics, the second cable (grey one) will re-charge the battery as we tow?
Probably standard stuff but never had twin electrics and cannot find my fridge manual so any help appreciated
Thanks.

Not a caravanner, but I am sure that the grey plug supplies two 12 volts supplies, one to power the fridge( which should be set to battery) and one to charge the leisure battery.
Yes you are right. The grey plug will supply both, but don't expect the fridge to cool down too much. If you can, cool it down before you leave. On 12v it will keep it cool, and keep the freezer box frozen, if already cooled down. It should only work when your engine is running, so don;t worry if nothing happens when you switch it on. We keep ours on a storage, so we tend to put a bottle of frozen water in the fridge to help cool it down while driving. We use a cool-box in the car with all our food, then transfer to the fridge once on site.
