Now I know it's not everyones 'cup of tea' and i've read many posts and threads from campers whose toes curl up at the very mention of a tv when camping, however;

having recently changed from caravan to canvas and having used my sons flat screen tv/freeview/dvd to good effect while touring I thought it won't do us any harm if we take it away for longer trips.

I've got one of those telescopic type aerials that fastens to an A frame on a caravan, which worked really well.

Obviously tents don't have A frames, so I was wondering what those among you who do take a tv when camping use for an aerial/booster?

Many thanks Mike

ps PPLLEEAASSE don't use this post as a means of slating me for enjoying a little home luxury when away - I have served my country you know!!

We use Maplins one for all very compact and pretty good - obviously it depends on the sites signal but generally we get at least the basic channels on freeview - occasionally we've managed to get Cbeebies for the kids.

Hi, like the look of that.

Just wondering though, obviously it would be 'top' heavy - is there another way of securing it or does that system suffice?

Thanks, Mike

Hi. We use a length of nylon cord as guy lines for our aerial pole. Mind you it is about 10 feet tall.

I have bought one of the Lidl's portable satellite systems that can be set up in the box. It takes a bit of practice to set up, but once you've mastered it works far better and is more reliable than Freeview with far more channels - even the all the local BBC/ITV channels so if you wish you can keep up with your local news whilst away (sad I know!)

The last offer at Lidl's for these was only £29.99 - excellent value!
