I use Pledge silicon polish. Tie a knot on end of some nylon washing line and pull it through chanel.

Interesting to hear what people use rather than overpriced proprietary products. I use electricians silicon grease as I can 'get it' from work.

I confess I used proprietary silicon spray on parent's caravan - but one tin lasted several years (and is still used for lubricating other things now).

I tear a strip of cloth and tie a couple of small Knots in it and spray with plenty of PLEDGE furniture polish it does a great job of both cleaning and lubricating the awning rail. I only have to do it once at the beginning of the season.

My OH always used to use silicone spray when we had our caravan.  We have just watched the Caravan Show on Men & Motors channel, the man said a good tip was to use washing up liquid on your awning rail (not so sure on that one, I think it would do more damage than good)!

Silicone spray had a can for about 12 years now - it was left in a van after service !
