We have a Khyam Montreal and bought a side canopy/awning that gives the side entrance some coverage for cooking etc. Will we be charged extra for this on sites?
Thanks

You certainly shouldnt be as it is part of the tent.
Some sites charge for pup tents and utility tents but they are seperate

Most sites will not, though do check for pitch size. If your unit occupies two pitches on some commercial sites you may be asked to pay for both.

Our Regular site make a £2 charge per night for "awnings " ( extensions ) and or Gazeebos - which in the case of a dedicated side extension is a bit unfair when you look at some of the multi-room tents that pitch up !

It is not very common to be charged for a sun canopy or side porch canopy but some sites will charge you for using an extension
It is back to the thing where if the site owner can get away with it then they will charge you for it, which I think is wrong if it is a site with marked pitches as long as your kit is within your marked pitch then it should be allowed at no extra cost

The awning/extension will count as part of your overall footprint size , remember, so you may incurr extra charges for an oversized tent. And beware of space restrictions at C&CC campsites and sites with small fixed pitches.

We have a similar awning we use with our Khyam, which we got last year, we we never charged extra for having it. Though I would never mention it to a campsite owner, just in case it gave them ideas.
