We have a Nissan Murano and have been to look at the Thule Ranger 90 roof bag today. They are a clever idea but don't look that big storage wise. However the logisitics of trying to get one of the hard roof boxes on top of the car is not something I want to think about with every trip ending up in a row because they car has got scratched!!
Are the roof bags roomier than they look? They hold 340 L compared to the 470 L Exodus we looked at.
Our X-Trail has a hard Thule box (huge one) and we have never managed to scratch the car. Even a bag could cause damage if you accidentally scrape it along the roof (especially if it has any mud/sand on the bottom of it).
------------- Please do not adjust your mind... there is a fault in reality
We have a roofbox on our Maverick 4x4 and we manage to get the roofbox on without a hitch. The problem comes when you want to find a parking space. We often go to the seaside for our camping expeditions and many of their carparks have height restrictions to stop work vans etc parking and has caused us quite a few problems. Something we'd never even thought of when we bought the box. Obviously on a car you'd be fine but on a 4x4 it's a different kettle of fish. Something to think about when considering roofbox versus roofbag.
------------- If you have a problem stressing you, sort it. If you can't, there's no point worrying about it coz it won't make a blind bit of difference!!!! Jules
