Calor gas is cheaper than campingaz , look for a secondhand cylinder,at car boot sales, scrap metal yards, freecycle, freeads , ebay, or your local tip.
You then exchange the empty bottle for a full one . A 4.5kg is the popular size for tent camping , and costs around £15 for a refill, a new bottle will cost an extra £30 deposit (non returnable), so a secondhand one is the way to go.
You will also need a regulator and hose, the correct regulator, about £5 and the hose and jubilee clips about £3, (some cookers come with hose supplied)
Campingaz is more expensive, a 907 holds 2.7kg gas, costs £20 for a refill and £45 deposit for a new bottle.
You should be able to get a sacondhand one for about a tenner or less.
Well in the Aldi brochure it is pictured running of a 5kg Calor small Patio cylinder, which you can pick up from almost any Calor sockist, just find an old Calor cylinder first that will save you having to pay a deposit, alternativley and better IMHO, is to get hold of a BP GasLite cylinder from HomeBase, again 5kg and is supplied c/w regulator, the BP cylinder is transparent, so you can see how Gas is left, very handy, if going outside UK, then best get Campingaz, I run two 904 cylinders, should one run out, most folk just use a single 907, problem with Campingaz is that it works out at around three times the cost per refill as Calor or BP here in the UK, oh and I forgot to mention CalorLite 5kg cylinder, as another option, hope that helps!.
Some Calor stockists now have more spare cylinders than they need and are letting new customers have a new cylinder without paying Calor's exorbitant surcharge i.e. just the refill charge.
You won't get that deal from DIY shops and filling stations but you may from a Calor agent.
