You'd need to buy an inverter unit to convert the 12V to 240V - basic 300 Watt one would be about £20-25 from Maplin Electronics or similar. Alternatively, you can buy a 12V pump for just a few quid.
I got a 12v Pump from Aldi's for £5 last week elsewhere only a few pounds more. If you need more length Maplins have an offer on 3m extension for 12v devices at £5 right now... get online or check local stores availability.
