Thank you everyone for your comments/tips.You and the 6 cans of larger (cooled by the aldi box)he drank last night have finally convinced him he might make it home from his first camping trip in one piece.

i have used this coolbox for 3 years and had never given it a second thought.Of course there has been the odd occasion i have thrown items away,but that was my fault for buying too much.Bottom line is for £35 it works better than expected for longer than expected.

The other thing your posts have achieved is he is now starting to trust my advice.He asked me a question on how long his gas should last yesterday and when i estimated he sounded like he believed.The devil in me wants to now abuse that trust by telling him the coleman evolva with extra bedroom and chefs annex is the easiest tent on the market to erect and he should go away without having done a test pitch.

I managed to keep my coolbox colder by putting in a bag of ice along with regularly changing the iceblocks if a freezer is available on site.
