We have the rack and the holdall and are very happy with them.

We can an unbelievable amount of stuff in the holdal and it is waterproof so everything stays dry

The only thing is that if you pack it once it is on the roof, it is hard to get it a decent shape so the first time we used ours it kind of looked like an elephant had sat on it lol

So now we pack it then lift it onto the rack and attach it. It is a little trickier to attach when full but it is doable.

The straps are at the same height as the top of your car door.

It does help if you thread them through the handles above the door if you have them. OH is 6' 2" and he only curses them if his seat is too far forward.
