Have posted elsewhere, really really fancy some form of windbreak for this weekend but can't find anything cheap. Anybody know of either a) a cheap one, or b) how to make one of your own. Love to hear from you.
PS Going to the Borders and hope weather will be ok as our tent flooded out last weekend, anybody with knowledge of weather please let me know.
Just returned from the Highlands, just past inverness. weather very good apart from the last 2 days. We just got the tail end of the storm that washed the A9 away.
As for a cheap wind break well I hear beans work well alternativly park next to a bush or park the car between the wind and you.

We are going to the same site we were at last week - Honey Cottage in Ettrick Valley, were absolutely flooded out and it was very windy. Have to go back as time is running out and it was such a fabulous base camp for lots of happy wandering. The reason for the windbreak is that since I read the posts on how dangerous it is to cook in the tent I am now gonna cook outside and feel we will need a windbreak for that, or live on ham sandwiched and Irn bru for the weekend. Have a load of chilli in the freezer ready to take with us so that's the bean department sorted.
Hi Mswizz, you will probably be able to get a cheap windbreak in places like poundstretchers etc. for around about £6.00, However when we were down south this year we saw a brilliant windbreak - The maker appeared to be Outbound, but I've looked at their site and didn't see it. Unfortunately when I saw it the owners were not around otherwise I'd have asked them where they bought it. On the other hand if you buy a cheap one whilst your away, you can always just leave it behind.
We have the Outwell windbreak and it is FAB. We got it from CCC outdoors for about £45 I htink. COuld have been a bit less though. Its SO much bigger than ordinary ones and packs up really small. We are thinking about taking it in rucsacs when we have a picnic.
Thanks Winnie and Christine for your advice. Am preparing everything for packing although the weather does not look promising and the forecast is for rain today. Think we will brave it anyway, so little precious time left for camping will hopefully find one on the way as we will be looking for wellies for the little one too.
