I need my creature comfort and will not camp without EHU!
Got a rechargeable LED light bar from Lidl's and found it was not bright enough to read with on its own or when hooked up to electricity.
Bought a hanging work light with a metal cage and glass cover, IP44 rating I believe, and worked very well inside the tent with a 40W equivalent low energy bulb which gives off a nice warm glow. However, I worried about the weight, hence I bought one in similar design with a plastic cage.
I bought a cheap wind up lantern with LEDs from Lidl's recently, and it works fine for short illumination but not bright enough to read with.
I also have 2 other fluorescent rechargeable lanterns at home, a boxy Coleman one that is no longer available, and a Gelert. I would say both are bright enough to read with, and one charge last a few hours of continuous use.
I was very tempted to get a gas lantern as I prefer its warm glow. However, I worry about the heat it gives off when used inside the tent even on a table, and decided against it and got the mains work lamp instead.
