Hi all just posted this in diy section think its better here any road i'm buying my first mortohome 5birth kitchen and bathrm at rear and looking to add a scooter rack without having the van i cant do the axel calcs and what not as anyone any experiance been looking at bessacarr 20' payload 475kg rear axel load of 2000kg fiat chasis alco extention any advice welcome cheers marc
yes without doin all the calcs its a gamble spoke with rack manufacturer he says no probs with the axcel its a bessacarr 435 just wondering is there any members with anything similar cheers.
Just seen a bessacarr e435 that is a big overhang & with only 400kg loading margin, Doesnt seem a lot. I was expecting it to be lighter & allow a higher loading figure.
scooter and rack about 115kg loading around 460kg from what i've read but you say thats not alot for a mortorhome of 20' looks like i'll have to find something else thanks for your help. marc
I think the issue is the noseweight allowance for the vehicle. Not the actual payload.
Cars with longer rear overhangs or softer suspension tend to have lower noseweight figures. If you are allowed a noseweight figure above 115kg then you will be fine.
someone came to me asking if i could sort there floor out. They had a rimmer motor home. the floor at the back you could see day light! They had put a towbar on the back and towed with it, overloading the chaiss, so making the floor go with the chaiss. so i had to jack the chaiss back up, both side`s and weld it, has this van had a extened chaiss, then i sealed the floor. so becarefull.

when we had our motor home we had a towbar made at pws? towbars poole ,due to the overhang it was pretty heavy by itself never mind with a moped on it so in the end we fitted air rides to lift the back up again.
pretty expensive outlay in the end PWS though are expert in motorhome towbars and offer a great service.
the nearest campsite we found was at herne airport (right under the flight path ) the road outside is probably the most dangerous road we've ever walked!!
in hindsight a small bike trailer would probably been easier
