Hard to say how long it would run your cool box for, depends on what size box, what the ambient temp is, and what you have stored in the box, worst case cenario is that it would get you through the first night, then next day charge/top up the battery from the car whilst out and about, using either a split charger or regular mains charger through an inverter, personally I would keep the battery outside the tent, more for space than safety, although in my case it would be in the kitchen tent, as for charging I picked up a CTEK Zafir 90 charger from COSTCO £35, they claim to be the "Smartest Battery Chargers in The World" some claim and my local caravan shop sells them at around £100!, going back to the 85Ah battery it kept my WAECO CF25 going for over 24hrs at -15DegC when the ambient temp was around +16Deg C, not bad going in my opinion. as for running a light, no problem LED lights draw little juice, unless your using say a 200 LED monster or similiar.

You will also have to be careful connecting and dis-connecting the battery all the time,get it wrong after it has been charged and you cause a spark and you could have a nasty accident.
I speak from experience after re-connecting the battery on my old Toyota van and earthing the live with a the spanner and it blew up in my face,luckily i was at home with plenty of water but i still got burnt and the van was a right mess.
You would also have to fasten the battery in the car somehow while you were charging it,would be deadly in and accident if it travelled forwards.
Much less hassle with EHU
