avon skin so soft, body lotion i used it in greece ( not camping) never got bit, believe its very good, think theres a thread on here also not sure which board tho, 17

I've never known those candles to be much use. I used to have one the size of a bucket, and it created a lovely lemony smell, but it actually attracted bugs - they'd get trapped in the puddle of wax and die.

What about one of those things that you light - A mosquito coil thing? We bought ones last year with a hanging stand/ cover thing. It was great in France and really did the job both in the tent and outside at night time on the table.
