Went in to my local HYPERVALUE, and they have one of those 14 litre cool/warmer fridges, comes with 240v lead and 12 v lead and have different colours. Big W are doing the similar spec one for £39.99. HYPERVALUE price £19.99.

Should work ok this summer (not being too warm), these type of peltier effect coolbox are pretty useless in hot weather do a search & read the numerous posts on these coolboxes.

We got one of those from Maplins for £29.99, almost identical to the one BigW were selling, tried it out at home on the 240v mains & took it back within 4 days, it said it would reach 25 below ambient temp., the lowest it went down to was 11 c, which was no where near 25 below, as the temp outside was approx 25 c. That was after having it on constantly for 48 hours, so how long would it take on a 12v cigarette lighter - probably 2 weeks , if the car battery would last that long, we got it as it looked like a bargain but after taking it back decided to spend a bit more & got a Sibir 3 way fridge for £120, which is absolutely brilliant & does go down to 0c - that was running it on gas, we needed something that would get things cold from room temp as we have a 4 month old & need to get & keep her milk cold, oh & keep our wine & beer cold obviously.
When you have a 4 month old that needs 5 bottles of milk a day, it's not only cheaper but its also easier & less time consuming if you can make up all 5 bottles in the morning for the whole day using the powdered baby milk, however, this then needs to be kept very cold & a coolbox & ice-packs do not keep cold enough for this, also she has now started having baby food jars but doesn't eat a whole jar at once so again it needs to be kept 'refrigerated'.
When we went away in July we didn't have the fridge & therefore had to use ready-to-use baby milk in cartons this costs us £20.00 in milk for the week, where as the powdered milk would cost us £6.00 for the week. I know you probably think it's a bit extravagant to buy a £120 fridge for this purpose but thats just 1 thing it's good for, the others is it keeps beer & wine really cold, instead of just cool
We have the Maplin cooler and we took it away to cornwall - we had the only hot week I think and it performed brilliantly. kept the milk and bacon cool and in fact had ice on the inside back wall. I can't complain for £30. Nic
I can defo understand needing a better form of cooler when u have a baby ,i think it was just unfortunate my post appeared directly below minxy's it was in no way a response to your post i can totaly understant y u need one,Sorry it seemed like i was posting in direct answere to you
But i do think most ppl can by with a cooler and ice packs unless u got the spare cash and dont mind having to have a ehu site
Each to their own i reakon
the day my wine isnt cool enuff in my cooler will be the day im a slave to a ehu too
I totally agree with you skatty, we have been camping for 6 years & have always used a coolbox & ice-packs & it has been fine for our food & drink & if it wasn't for the little girl then we might of just kept the mini fridge/cooler that we bought from Maplins for £29.99, but it only cooled to approx 10-12 c, which is not cold enough to keep the baby milk in, especially when it is put in slightly warm & needs to get cold fairly quickly, it was ok to keep beers/wine cold once cold but didn't find it anygood for getting things cold from room temp. .
