Hi £39.99 new & full i think they called & 6.99 for the regulator at that camping shop at Blackpool,Kool Kamping. Thats cheap round here as they are about £70 at the local caravan shop.
Old post I know, but they do say “Life’s a Gas” well CampinGaz do, as they were obviously on the same stuff as Marc Bolan.
So I have just been down to Cheshire gas in Bury, to get a 13kg Butane cylinder for the heater in the workshop, £28 thank you very much, cash only no cards, not even debit card, but hey no problem with that.
The 13kg cylinder is as large as I can carry these days, full it weighs just over 25kg.
But what I could not help noticing was that they had a stack of shiny looking CampinGaz 907 cylinders, in France last year a refill was €23 so let’s call it £20 so I had to ask the question, how much for a CampinGaz 907 refill, now the fella in the store has just taken £28 of me, so it probably explains why he had such a big smile when he told me the price, £30 quite amazing for just 2.75kg of gas.
And I must admit, I do like the dinky size of the 907, in fact we carry two in the trailer tongue box, and to be fair as we mostly use electric, I can get 20 weeks of camping out of one of these tiny cylinders, but the price is just plain bonkers.
I can top that, a online supplier is offering them for £35 delivered (in their limited catchment area) AND they are plugging that as a 'SPECIAL ONLINE ONLY' price!
.... and before anyone asks or suggests otherwise, that's JUST a refill/exchange not a new cylinder price! And that is not the only outlet selling at that price, it's pretty common!
At £30 it's a bargain deal!
There's a lot of benefits to the 907, especially if you are tent camping or going to the continent, but the price is outrageous and worthy of investigation by the authorities!
Yep, going of what I paid for the 13 kg Butane cylinder, £28 that would make the CampinGaz 2.75kg cylinder just £5.92 per refill, now if they can make a profit on 13 kg cylinder, there must still be enough margin to be made on the CampinGaz in fact even £10 per refill for the CampinGaz would still make it almost double the price of the 13kg Butane that I bought.
But at £30 they are taking the st Michael, I get that the cylinders have to go back to France to be refilled and refurbished etc, maybe it is CampinGaz (Coleman) that are dictating the price.
I agree it definitely needs investigating as it is a racket, and why the E.U. has never challenged the pricing policy of CampinGaz is a mystery.
Off course at the end of the day, it’s a nice little earner for CampinGaz, and is probably looked upon as gas for the leisure industry.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
