We quite like the useability of the Avtex range of televisions. One of the functions that is highlighted amongst its generous specification is that of FM transmitter. Not a tuner, just a transmitter. Apparently, says the blurb, this allows you to tune in your hi-fi, radio or car radio to the frequency and benefit from wireless speakers.
Does this mean that the Avtex just acts as a giant speaker in support of your hi-fi, radio, car radio etc? If so, why is it a transmitter, surely it should be a receiver?
It means that the TV sound is transmitted as an FM signal which your hifi / car stereo can pick up. You can then play the sound through your hifi/car stereo without hooking them up with cables.
So if I place the tv on the worktop (mid-caravan) and utilise the transmitter, then I will hear sound from the tv and through the two front mounted caravan speakers? Still seems a bit of a gimmick to me though. I would rather have had an FM radio option rather than the transmitter function but, hey ho!
You got it! It's more a sort of an Ipod thing really. I can see the utility in reducing no of cables but I've got so many another 2 won't hurt any way!
Hi, You are right, AVTEX acts as a radio transmitter, I think one of the ideas is, put your HEAVY METAL cd in the Avtex, sit in your deck chair outside, plug your ear phones into an FM radio/receiver, and try not to sing to loud.
