Does anyone know how big the spanner needs to be? I think my bottle is size 6.

Tis OK. I've found that you can get ones that can be tightened by hand that cost no more than a spanner. Having looked at what I have, not sure whether I need one now? I keep my regualtor attached all the time. Does it have to be removed before refilling gaz please. Need to know!

You don't actually refill the cylinder. It's what everyone calls it, but it's not what actually happens.
You take it to the supplier, you hand them your empty cylinder, and they hand you back a (different) full cylinder.
Your old empty cylinder then gets sent back to the processing plant to be refilled.

So yes, your regulator does need to be removed when it comes to getting a 'refill', or exchange, as it should really be called.

The regulator for my propane cylinders has a hand wheel on it, so I don't need to bother with spanners. If you need to buy a regulator, get one with a hand wheel. If you already have one, a standard gas spanner will fit. As for what diameter it is, I have no idea. They can be bought cheaply on eBay.

Hope that helps.
Andy.

Thanks. I have one of the new lighter weight size 6 propane cylinders with a 'trendy' picture on the front. I hope they don't try to swap it with an old style one?

Is this the right thing for the new size 6 please?

Yes. That's the exact one I have.
All screw-in propane cylinders take one standard size fitting (known as 'POL').

They won't exchange a Calor Lite for a regular metal cylinder, don't worry.
