Hi all

We've just been out today and bought another tent one of the special offer Hi Gear Corado 6's. Anyway, the packaging is much larger than our oregon 5, so I think we now need a roofbox or a trailer.

I think I'm sorted on the roofbox requirements i.e. roofbars and a box and to ensure that the weight (loaded) isn't over the maximum stipulated for my car.

For a trailer I know that I need a towbar fitting and I need to know my maximum pull weight. I can't work this out from my car manual so I've rang the local car dealer who is going to ring me back.

But, what do I need to look for in a good trailer. I'm going to buy second hand.

Thanks for any advice given.  17

First of all check your drivers licence to ensure your can tow a trailer. Trailers are classed as being under 750Kg (which should be plenty for camping requirements and easily towed by most cars) or over with different licence categories to permit towing each.
Sometimes smaller trailers can be actually more difficult to manouvere than larger ones and can be more difficult to see in your mirrors. But having said that they are easier to unhook and push around. I suppose it depends on how confident you are reversing a trailer.
