To be honest... for privacy (especially when eating), to stop others' untethered dogs from wandering into our tent (happens far too often) and to keep stray balls away from drinks etc (as we usually sit outside under our canopy chilling).
We are not unsociable and think the privacy thing works both ways, especially on a busy site.

Isn't it funny, I would love other people's dogs to come visiting and it's only happened to me once (a lurcher puppy so gorgeous I nearly kept it!).
I wonder if most dogs won't go into tents where there are other dogs, even little wussy ones like mine?
