It's to hang it on the side when cooking - to act as ?????? wind barrier/heat retainer/splash guard??? not sure, possibly all 3????? Or pehaps just so that you don't have to put a hot lid on to the dry grass and set fire to the campsite in our gloriously hot English summers, ha ha

Anybody live in Edinburgh who wants a Cadac Carrichef Deluxe at a bargain price? They've got one in the city centre branch of Millets (just off Prices Street) for £79! Its been there for a few weeks now and the box is damaged so the guy said he'd take another 10% off - which is a real bargain. Possibly even get it cheaper if you haggle? Unfortunately I'd just bought mine when I saw it otherwise I'd have snapped it up.
You won't belive this but I was in Millets in Edinburgh Frederick Street yesterday and this Cadac is still there in a corner of the shop. The guy said he'd give 20% off this time - but I reckon you could probably name your price! I think it's probably the 2008 model - not sure, but still a bargain.
I would highly recommend the carrichef. after reading all the reviews on here and seeing what people have been cooking!! we ordered one and it arrived today :) it took me no more than ten minutes to put together - simples as the meerkat would say!
We've got the Cadac Carri Chef Deluxe and thoroughly recommend it. The only thing I've yet to use is the skottle, the griddle is great (pancakes are a doddle!), and yummy roast dinners as well as the normal gas bbq. I would suggest if you are paying out do get one with a lid as it opens up many more cooking options as you can then use it as an oven as well.
Go for it, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Incidentially, we got ours on a well know auction site from Camping International and paid £109.95 delivered.
Have you thought about ringing the Millets Store up in Edinburgh and offering to buy it over the phone (if they would do such a thing), you could arrange a carrier to collect for you for about £10.00. Maybe worth considering/asking - you never know.
I am so in love with my Cadac, I used it whilst camping this weekend and my friends brought theirs as well, so I had two to cook on - heaven!!!! I try and use it at home as often as I can as well.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
