Hi,we are going to buy some new pegs as some people have said that the pegs you get with your tent arent the best,i have read up on the Delta pegs but as its first time camping dont want to spend to much money(well already have lol)and they seem to be a bit bulky (already worrying how we are going to fit everything in lol)so is their anything else we can buy to make sure the tent is nice and secure(worst fear tent falling down in wind lol)the tent site we are going to is in a field so am guessing the ground is going to be soft especially with all this rain we have been having, any advice would be great, thanks
You will probably be fine with the ones you have,
if you are camping on a normal surface.
Having said that when I go camping I take all of the pegs I have from several different tents as some are better than others. for different conditions.
My major complaint of the cheap wire pegs that you tend to get, is that they bend when you try to put them into a hard surface, so I have some rock pegs as well,
I was also advised by a campsite to get some when we were staying on an all weather pitch
These are only my opinions I'm sure alot of other ones will come along.
They are basically 9 inch nails with a bit of plastic on the top to stop the guy from slipping off. They seem to work well on most surfaces, and do not bend like the normal wire pegs. I normally use my set on the major guy ropes unless the ground is very soft when I use V or U section pegs.
Hi. I stupidly travel with a massive bag of pegs, but I always go for the rock pegs first, since they always go it easier, even in hard ground, and come out easily. I also travel with some thick super long pegs, which seem like overkill, but work best on sandy ground where there is little hold - I used them on a beach site of pure sand last week, where smaller pegs were useless. I now only use 'normal' pegs for additional pegging and windbreaks. Hope this helps.
By the way, my rock pegs have flourescent pink plastic bits, which makes them easy to find in the grass... Regards, Julie
They are still capable of being bent if the ground is really hard. However, I have suffered less peg loss due to bending with these, when I lost about 10 cheapo L shaped ones just for pegging the groundsheet down recently!
I also have a few screwy ground anchors, 2 for the canopied windbreak, the rest for my tarp as I need to have it up all the time to prevent water from coming in from the bottom of the door when it rains. I have also bought some Delta pegs for the tarp too.
I should invest on some rock pegs in case of hard grounds soon.

I would still take the pegs that came with the tent,as you never know.Pegs are so easy to lose.
I use those for pegging down the groundsheet
