I have just bought an old but lovely Cabanon Elody (£83 Ebay!!! what a bargain) Can anyone tell me if tent rubbers are generic or if I have to get Cabanon ones? any one else have an Elody - I still can't believe that I own a Cabanon!

Welcome to the world of Cabanon ownership!

You don't need Cabanon rubbers, any similar sized ones will do. Where in the south west are you? You can buy rubbers from Highbridge Camping just off the M5 at Highbridge. I'm not sure if Somerset Camping at Taunton have them?

You might also want to get a little stash of springs as it's likely that you'll need some of these as you use the tent.

Hi Fowey, I've not long got my hands on a Cabanon from Ebay either. Most of the rubbers are intact and in good condition on mine, and like Piglet says, I don't think it matters on whether any replacements are manufacturer's originals or not as long as they are the right size. Lots of places seem to have generic rubbers that will suit awnings or tents, so I guess its a matter of finding somewhere local that will suit you.

I'm quite fortunate that I have a Cabanon dealer 20mins drive away near Chester, so what rubbers I needed to replace, I got from there.

Congratulations on your bargain buy Fowey 17 A brilliant tent 17

Take one of your perished rubbers with you to a camping shop to ensure you get the same size if you intend to fit them by unpicking & re-sewing the tape which holds them to the tent. However, you will have a white plastic ring attached to the tape on each pegging point, and you can just get longer rubbers & loop them through the rings if you don't fancy a sewing job.
