HI EVERY ONE, AFTER ABOUT 10 YEARS OF NOT CAMPING WE HAVE JUST GOT OURSELF'S A NEW FAMILY TENT OF 4 FROM MILLETS OF EASTBOURNE. WE HAVE A BOY JOSH WHOS 4 NOW, AND WE STAYED OVER IN HASTING, BECAUSE WE COULDNT GET IN ANYWHERE ELSE, HASTING TOURING SITE WHERE THE ONLY SITE THAT CONTACTED US BACK. WE HAD A GREAT TIME, MYSELF DEBBIE I AM 41 ON 22ND AUG, AND UNFORTUNATELY I SUFFER WITH CHRONIC PAIN BOTH OF MY LEGS EVERY DAY, ITS LIKE SCITICA FOR NEARLY 13 YEARS, SO WE ARE LOOKING INTO BUYING CAMPING BEDS, DOES ANYONE KNOW OF WHICH ONES ARE GOOD TO BUY, WE HAVE CHECKED ARGOS, OUT OF STOCK KEEPS COMING UP, ANY ADVICE AT ALL WOULD BE APPRECIATED, THE DAMPNESS SEEMS TO GET THROUGH TO MY BACK AND LEGS EVEN THOUGH A -1 SLEEPING BAG I KNOW I AM MOANING,. HELP CHEERS DEBBIE
Got an aluminium frame campbed in Argos, very comfy. We have it in the awning up against the side of the caravan and during the day we put a folded over quilt on it with the pillows along the back and use it as a sofa! Pure luxury!!! P.S. Think you can also get these in Halfords. Ours was about £20 if i remember correctly. Hope this helps and happy camping!!
We use gelert lightweight aluminium ones and the argos steel legs ones (not the ones that are really low to the ground) with self inflating matresses on top. We find them very comfortable. I love not having to crawl around on my hands and knees and they are also great for sitting on when you get dressed! Also handy for storing your bags underneath and out of the way.
I too have the steel one - it is about 42cm high & is very comfortable - especially with a self inflating mattress on top. i got mine in argos £19.49. I have broken my leg & ankle & need the height as i cant get up from the floor.
The rest of the family have the lower beds about £10 with four steel legs - both have been great & you are off the floor.
welcome to camping - i left it for about 15 years until 3 years ago & now wonder why!!!
Hello everyone, thanks for all your useful information on the campbeds, mike wants my bed, i got it from argos, didnt have to pay for it because we have nectar points with his diseal, from argos cat number 340/0937 £29.99 FOLDING DELUXE BED SIZE AS BED H46 W76 L190CM.
I have tried the airbeds, not for me, i felt too much pain been close to the floor, i cant explain it really, i am 41 now , and have suffered with chronic pain since i was 27. its pain all the time, and thats the only thing that would have stopped me going camping, and i really wanted to give it ago again, because i feel alive again, and love the fresh air.
Its lovely it really is, i am 5foot 8, and over weight, if u are 6 foot u would get on, the only uncomfortable thing is the strap underneath the bed, thats what holds u up. mike says??
He did say i wish i could get on your bed, sorry chap, stick to your own, that he got from a camping site it looks like the one in argos 340/7129 13.99, I shouldnt have laughed really, should i he was trying to get the metal frames into the bed, amd mygod it was very hard, he did throw it across the feild a couple of times.
we have a tent for 4 people, its bigger enough for us at the moment, and if we want to carry on, we might get a bigger tent, i will let u know which one we got later.

We also started camping again in 2001 after a 23 year break - all those wasted years!!!
It can be a bit of trial and error to find what suits you best.
Oldest daughter and myself use the lightweight steel framed ones - also useful for storing stuff underneath.
Youngest daughter and O/H use the low cheapie ones.
Son prefers an airbed.
Too several goes to make everyone happy.
Hi guys 23 years away from camping, did u miss it, where do u go now, we live in Eastbourne East Sussex, we got out tent late july, we did a couple of carboot sales, and got the money that away, and felt happy, we got it from Millets. Its always best to look at tents where they have a show,
We have done about 4 camping sites. the one not to go on unless u have a touring carvan, and a motorhome, is Camber Sands Rye my god theres so much concrete around, it was so windy, and because they dont tell u, its by the open road, which is very noisey indeed, there are pactches where the grass hasnt grown back
I said to mike as long as i can get away in a open field, with no noise from the road, hot showers, and a loo i am fine we all are. Nice to see u back with us campers enjoy your time away where ever u go to
