Oops it looks like I have started something here! We did not buy the cadac just to fry chips, it just that we had planed on haveing them and thought we would try the cadac out as some people have stated that they were not up to boiling water.
Also I am not suggesting anybody else trys cooking chips on a cadac. I have just posted what we did to show that a cadac is up to cooking things at a high heat safely if properly attended to.
We par poiled our potatoes first, cut them into chips and then cooked them on the flat thing (sorry can not remember what you call it, the one thats the opposite side to the griddle one) we used a little cooking oil and kept turning them over and they were great, really fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. We did try it in the roasting pan but found they kept sticking to the bottom.
